Three Virgin Islands public school teachers will be on the Disney Channel this fall when the 1999 Disney American Teacher Awards are aired.
Mercer, St. Croix Educational Complex; and Maria Velazquez, Ricardo Richards Eleme Participating in the awards ceremony will be: Lesmore Howard, Charlotte Amalie High School; Grace ntary School.
The teachers were selected through a public nomination process to compete for this distinction. The nominations came from Virgin Islands students and parents.
The gala awards presentation will give each honoree a monetary award of $2,500, with a like amount donated to the schools they represent. The awards, which will air on November 14, reflect creativity in teaching and exploring innovative practices.
