WILLIAM WORLEY WAHL DEAD AT 73

William Worley Wahl, a resident of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands and Cherry Grove, Fire Island, New York, died suddenly in Cherry Grove on June 21, 1999 of heart and vascular illness. He was 73 years old. Son of the late Reverend Edward G. Wahl and Miriam Clarke Wahl, he was
born on June 14, 1926 in Housatonic, Massachusetts. The family moved to Goshen, New York in 1932 and to Walden, New York, in 1943 where he graduated from high school.
He served in the U.S. Army with overseas service following World War II in Italy. He then attended American University in Washington DC, transferring to Wesleyan University in Middletown Connecticut where he graduated in the Class of 1950. He first worked with the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity in New York City for several years and then joined the Federal Reserve Bank of New York where he was Supervising Examiner, Trust Examinations Division, Bank Examinations Department.
After retiring from the Federal Reserve Bank in 1985 he moved to St.Thomas where he lived at #9 Estate Havensight. He was active in the St.Thomas Reformed Church and the bridge club.
Mr. Wahl is survived by his brother, Theodore A. Wahl of Media, Pennsylvania; nephews Martin V. Wahl and Russell E. Wahl; nieces Gayle Lane, Sharon Wenger and Harriet Cowper; and nine grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
A memorial service will be held at the St. Thomas Reformed Church at the corner of Nye and Crystal Gade on Sunday July 11 at 2 p.m. Contributions may be made to the William Wahl Memorial Fund at the Reformed Church.
