Emancipation Day celebrations, entitled "A West End Reunion," have been scheduled on St. Croix for July 2 and 3.
On Friday, July 2, a old fashion soiree will be held at St. Gerard's Hall in Frederiksted from 7:30-9 p.m.
On Emancipation Day July 3, a parade will travel from the Frederiksted fish market to Budhoe Park. The parade begins at 2 p.m. and a commemoration program, featuring historian Gerard Emanuel as guest speaker, will follow at 4 p.m.
Lt. Gov. Gerard Luz James, Senate President Vargrave Richards, Sen. Adelbert Bryan, former senator Fritz Lawaetz, Richard Schrader, Delta Dorsch and Eulalie Rivera will also speak at the ceremony. The West End Carolers and other performers will provide entertainment.
