What better reason for a party than summertime?
Thousands of Virgin Islanders will enjoy the sights and sounds of another Christiansted street festival on Friday, July 16 at the Summertime Jump Up.
The Summertime Jump Up will feature youth and adult bands entertaining throughout Christiansted's historic district. The Alli Paul Original Mocko Jumbie Dancers will also be performing. Cultural entertainment includes: Dem Boyz, Noel’s Orchestra, Cultural Vibes, Junior Vibrations, Jahmek’l, Junie and The Jungle, The Steel Tones, and Jamesie and The All Stars. Several non-profit groups will have displays, and stores will be open late offering specials.
The Jump Ups are held in the historic district, and are presented by The Christiansted Restaurant and Retail Association (CRRA).
"This newly added event comes at an excellent time, just when everybody’s
ready for another party," said Priscilla Lynn of event production company Tropic Isle Promotions.
This Jump Up is being sponsored by The Yellow Book. A "yellow" ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. in the Christiansted gazebo. Sen. David Jones, who has volunteered to work with The CRRA to enhance Jump Up and other special town events, will officiate.
For St. Thomians, St. Johnians and British Virgin Islands residents looking for a summer excursion, Kings Alley Hotel and Seaborne Aviation Inc. are offering a "Jump Over For Jump Up" Summer Getaway Package. For additional details, call 773-0103 or 1-800-843-3574.
There is still space available for displays by community organizations. For further information about The Yellow Book Summertime Jump Up call Tropic Isle Promotions at 713-8012 or email at [email protected].
