An electrical malfunction at the Figtree pumping station Friday caused sewage to discharge into the Figtree gut.
The V.I. Department of Public Works warned the public to avoid the water near Cane Garden Bay until further notice. DPW Commissioner Harold Thompson said in a statement Friday that crews are working to correct the problem.
