NOW CORAL WORLD HAS A LAND ATTRACTION

0

There's more to Coral World than sea life. Find out for yourself on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6, when staff botanist Carolyn Thurman conducts the introductory tours of the marine attraction's Nature Trail.
This is one of the most dramatic environmental offerings now available to the
public at the East End marine park.
Thurman will provide information about the trees and plants of the Caribbean with a focus on the importance of plants to the ocean and to animals, including humans. Tour participants will get a close look at the habits and behaviors of the Red-Footed Tortoise in this protected environment, the reproducing populations of iguanas and other creatures in residence along the trail.
And she will identify many of the plants used for medicinal or commercial purposes.
The tours are open to all visitors at Coral World on Labor Day, departing at 10:45 a.m. and at 2:45 p.m. from the Mangrove Exhibit.
Summer season rates for local residents with I.D. are $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 3 to 12; younger kids get in free. For more information, call 775-1555, ext. 247.
