THREE INDICTED ON BRIBERY AND CONSPIRACY

Three persons, one of whom was arrested early this month, have been indicted by a federal grand jury on bribery and conspiracy charges.
Husam H. Abdul-Samad, 35, of Bonne Resolution, was arrested Sept. 1 during a raid on two businesses and a north side home by agents of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, U.S. Customs and the U.S. Marshals Office.
Fatmeh Yousef, 65, and Ahmad Yousef, 71, have also been charged under the same indictment. There are outstanding arrest warrants on them.
When Abdul-Samad originally was taken into custody, Assistant U.S. Attorney Hugh Mabe told the court he considered Samad a flight risk and requested $100,000 bail. Mabe also requested travel restrictions, electronic monitoring, and appointment of a third-party custodian.
The maximum penalty for bribery of a public official is 15 years' imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. Conspiracy carries a maximum five-year prison sentence and a $250,000 fine.
Abdul-Samad arraignment's was set for Sept. 29.
