Two gunmen opened fire Sunday afternoon on a group of people sitting at a table playing cards or dominos at the Knolls Public Housing Community. Two persons, a man and a woman, were taken to the Roy L. Schneider Hospital by ambulance following the incident.
Witnesses told Radio One news the gunmen ran to a red Honda Civic parked in a nearby church parking lot and fled the scene.
Although there were several residents on the property who saw the incident, few were willing to talk about what they saw, according to Radio One.
As they were fleeing, shots were reportedly fired at a Narcotics Strike Force agent who was walking into the Contant housing community. The agent was not injured.
Sources told Radio One that a 9 mm pistol and a .380-caliber handgun were used in the shooting.
The victims were not identified. Sources said they did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.
