American Airlines offering additional Flights
American Airlines Will Offer Additional Flights to the USVI in 2000 Vacationers will have another airline service to choose from when planning a trip to the USVI. American Airlines will offer direct service between Boston's Logan Airport and St. Thomas beginning February 18, 2000. Service will operate on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays each week. Cruise ship schedule available on line
1999-2000 Winter Cruise Ship Schedule Available on the Internet The USVI's 1999-2000 winter cruise ship schedule is now available on the Internet at www.ships.vi The schedule, which runs from November 1, 1999 through April 30, 2000, offers a daily report of cruise ship activity for the territory that includes: cruise ship capacity, previous ports, subsequent port calls, arrival and departure times, registry, agent and parent company information.
The West Indian Company recently announced that the upcoming cruise season will bring more ships to St. Croix and St. Thomas. The new Carnival Triumph, the Veendam, Sea Goddess I and Sea Goddess II will visit St. Croix in the coming months.
Many major vessels, including the SS Norway and New Amsterdam, are returning to St. Thomas for the winter season. On November 2, The Carnival Truimph and the Norwegian Majesty will make their inaugural calls on St. Thomas, followed by the Norwegian Sky making its first visit to St. Thomas on November 4. St. Thomas will also greet the Rembrandt on December 2 and the Zaandam on December 26. The first new ship to greet the millennium on St. Thomas will be the Ocean Princess on February 25. October Sunday Festival Adds Spicy Competition
St. Thomas restaurants and hotels will compete for the title of "Best Cajun Food" at the October Sunday Festival on October 24 in historic Frenchtown on St. Thomas. Blending tradition with culture and cuisine, the 23rd annual fundraising event offers music, games and family fun for all.
After judging the cuisine for the Cajun Gon' Caribbean competition, all of the food will be donated to the Virgin Islands Institute of Performing Arts (VIIPA) to sell to the public.
Vacationers and islanders will enjoy the culinary delights created from the competition while they dance to the music of many top, on- island entertainers including: Charivari, a traditional Cajun band from Louisiana that performs Creole songs, fiddle tunes, two-steps and waltzes; Nicky Russell; Rob W. Paper; Blue Shoes; Public Nuisance; Harmony Dem; Antilles Steel Hurricanes; Groundsea; and Family and Friends.
Net proceeds from the event will benefit the VIIPA and assist with program expansion. More than 30 non-profit groups will have booths at the event to raise money for their respective charities. For more information about October Sunday, call (340) 772-8508.

Lindy's remodeling
Lindy's Remodels and Reopens Lindy's, formerly the Frigate restaurant, recently reopened on St. Thomas after the kitchen and dining area were significantly remodeled. The restaurant's dining area, overlooking downtown Charlotte Amalie and St. Thomas Harbor, has freshly redecorated furniture and paintings from local artists draped along its walls.
The entire kitchen area was remodeled to allow space for the installation of additional freezers, a stove and other equipment.
Specializing in delectable steak and seafood dishes, Lindy's also serves blue crabs garlic-style, shell crabs, Alaskan crabs, king crabs, Florida crab claws, steaks and Island Rum Lobster.
