AERIAL PHOTO INTERPRETATION CLASSES AT UVI

0

The Virgin Islands Conservation Data Center plans to offer two aerial photography interpretation courses during the spring 2000 semester on UVI's St. Thomas campus. The prospective courses are Basic Photo Interpretation and Advanced Aerial Photo Interpretation.
For planning purposes, interested parties need to register by Nov. 15. Each class will require approximately 30 hours of combined classroom and field time.
The registration fee (not yet established) will be minimal and will cover the cost of required texts, equipment and supplies.
The Basic Photo Interpretation course will teach students basic techniques of photo interpretation, orienting aerial photographs and obtaining measurements from photography (photogrammetry). The course will also give students the techniques for natural resource identification for improved management.
The Advanced Aerial Photo Interpretation course will teach students to plan and carry a project to completion. This course advances students through scales, types of photography (infrared, multi-spectral, black & white), flight altitudes with regard to scale, plotting flight lines, effects of motion, heights and terrain, and much more.
People interested in these classes should contact Dayle Barry at the Conservation Data Center at (340) 693-1030.
