Music critic Ralph Gleason described pianist Junior Mance as "so
steeped in the blues tradition that he carries it along everywhere";
Everywhere will include a concert at the Tillet Gardens next at 8 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 17.
Mance will be accompanied by long time trio members double bass player Keter Betts and drummer Jackie Williams.
Junior's credits read like a who's who in the Jazz lexicon and include associations with Dinah Washington, Cannonball Adderly, Charlie Parker, and Dizzy Gillespie.
In recent years Mance has been primarily involved in leading his own trios while teaching piano and a blues course at the New School in Manhattan. Mance's most recent recordings can be found on Chiarosco records.
