The family of Suzanne Bower Fageol, widow of William Bertram (Bert) Fageol, of St. Thomas and Saba, N.A., has announced her death of natural causes on June 24, 1999, at the Community Hospital of Boca Raton, Fla.
She was the mother of three children: Peter, now deceased; the Rev. Suzanne Fageol of Langley, Wash.; and Geoffrey Fageol of Decatur, Ind.; and the stepmother of three Fageol children: Joan Huff of Arlington Heights, Ill.; William Fageol of New Haven, Ind.; and John Fageol of Cathedral City, Calif. She also leaves one brother, Wilford W. (Jack) Bower of North Lauderdale, Fla.
Following cremation, she was buried in a private committal service at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna, Ohio.
Mrs. Fageol, a resident of St. Thomas for more than 40 years, was known for her community service through the Red Cross Blood Bank, which she managed along with Doris Tunick for many years, and for her interest and work with the St. Thomas Historical Society.
She will also be remembered for her green thumb, her vegetable and flower gardens and her gifts as an interior designer.
She leaves many friends and loved ones here on St. Thomas. According to the family, those who wish to remember her might find it of interest to attend the benefit auction for the St. Thomas Synagogue on Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Old Stone Farmhouse where Mrs. Fageol¹s antiques and other items from her estate will be put up for auction.
She had many friends in this congregation and would be happy to be part of any effort that raises funds to preserve this jewel in the history of St. Thomas. The auction preview and sale of selected small items begin at 10:30 a.m. The auction itself begins at 1 p.m.
