Jabari Goodwin of the St.Croix Track Club won his first St.Croix Metric Mile on St.Croix Saturday.
Goodwin, a top interscholastic competitor in road racing the past few years, went ahead of the pack of two-dozen runners at the half-way mark and controlled the race from the front on the flat point-to-point course in Upper Love. His time was 4 minutes 26 seconds.
Kent Bradbury, a marathoner and an employee at Hovensa, took second in 4:35; George Cannon was third in 4:40; George Willocks was fourth in 4:45 and Ivan Henry was fifth in 4:45.
Evelise Gomez, a freshmen at the St.Croix Educational Complex, dominated the field of female runners. She won with a time of 5 minutes 20 seconds. Sherma Aurelien was second in 5:55; Jawana Goodwin third in 5:55; Laverne Jones fourth in 6:05 and J Kiwa Goodwin fifth in 6:08.
