PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AT COKI POINT TRIATHLON

0

People of all ages turned out Saturday morning to compete in the Coki Point
Triathlon, a race designed to help clean up the neighborhood.
About 20 participants entered the race which involved swimming, running or walking, and filling up a bag with trash found alongside the Coki Point & Smith Bay Roads. Participants ranged in age from 8 to 47 years old. Grand Prizes, for the first male and female participants to cross the finish line with a full bag of trash, were awarded to Jeff Miller and June Woodcock, a St. John couple, who came all the way from Coral Bay to be in the race. The couple graciously gave back one of their prizes, a weekend stay at Point Pleasant Resort, so that another participant could have a chance at winning it.
Prizes were awarded in every age category and there was even a prize for the
most unusual piece of garbage found.
"Although the turnout was not as good as we had hoped, the people who
entered really had a fun time, and collected quite a lot of trash"’ said race organizer Allegra Kean of Coral World.
Coral World and the other businesses on Coki Point who helped plan the event hope to make this an annual event.
