MELANIE VANTERPOOL FRANCIS DIES

Former Public Relations officer for the V.I. Port Authority Melanie Vanterpool Francis died Saturday in a Florida hospital. Mrs. Francis had suffered a stroke two months ago.
She was the wife of James A.D. Francis, chief of staff for Sen. Lorraine L. Berry.
Mrs. Francis worked for Eastern Airlines prior to going to work for the government.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Simone R.D. Francis, a partner in the law firm of Dudley, Topper and Feuerzeig, and Stephanie M.D. Francis, a manager at PriceWaterhouse Coopers in New York.
Information on funeral arrangements was not available Monday afternoon.
