SPEECH CENSORSHIP POLITICAL, NOT EDUCATIONAL

0

Dear editor:
Once again, and unfortunately for young Mr. Sewer, the school of politics took precedence over the opportunity to shape the mind of a very bright and observant Virgin Islander.
Those who so laboriously took time to censor the message with "white-out" could have assisted Oswin Jr. by showing/teaching him two valuable lessons. The first: how to deliver the same message in a constructive manner. The second: that one has a responsibility to the sensitivity of others even in freedom of expression. (Shame on them!)
When will we realize that lack of sensitivity and vision only serves to frustrate and ultimately drive much-needed talent away from the Virgin Islands?
I guess the message in this latest melee is that what is right is not necessarily the right thing to do. What a poor lesson.
