We lived on St. Thomas for 13 years until a few years ago when we retired to NC. I so enjoy reading the news about the islands. Your current editorial on the health department is right on target. The government down there has not improved in the four years that we have been absent. The entire government is a disgrace. Perhaps the U.S. government should step in somehow.
Of course, all of the American people have an interest. They just don't think about where many of their tax dollars are squandered. I am afraid that many of the islanders are still "kicking themselves in the foot".
I plan on writing to my senator here in North Carolina, something that I do often. He is on the Finance committee in Washington. I would be happy to expose this mess to Washington. Too much money is sent down there only to be given away. There are some hard working people but far too many playing a system that is corrupt.
I still have some financial interest down there and many friends on island.
Thank you for great reporting! You are doing a great service for the people of the Virgin Islands and anyone that has an interest there.
