To the editor:
I've been reading Source reports on new methods of compensation for our hard-working, hard-driving, non-productive legislators.
This newest proposal for the purpose of limiting senators' compensation is a real giggle. Has no one noted that the new formula$ 30,000 for 90 days of workequates to an "at the rate of" salary of $10,000 per month!
Wow! What a sweet deal. Now our hard-charging legislatorspoor babiesare paid only $5,000 per month. Under the newest compensation scam our legislators would now have nine months FREE AND CLEAR to manage their drugstores, reevaluate their real estate holdings, develop more clients for their law firms, put in their smiling presence at their bread-and-breakfasts or restaurants, and buy up some more radio stations.
The three U.S. states that have full-time General Assemblies also have populations that exceed 15 million adults. How did we ever get so lucky to have one senator for every 400 adults?
