CHIC CHICKIE'S PLACE RIVALS BEST OF THE ISLAND

0

Now there's another reason to go to Frenchtown — two reasons in fact, one for dining and one for fun. There's Chickie's Place, a fashionable new dining room with French underpinnings, and coming soon, a nightclub with entertainment and a billiards room.
Chickie Lenga and partners Barry Adams and John Hayes have created an unmatched Old World charm by combining friendly atmosphere and ambiance deep in the heart of Frenchtown. Chickie greets her guests at the door and makes them feel like treasured friends. Many have followed her from her days managing Agave Terrace, to Smuggler's at the Renaissance, and now to her eponymous restaurant in Frenchtown. Even her staff followed her.
The innovative menu features seafood, pasta, veal and the best the island has to offer. Chickie's Place is chic and rivals fine dining anywhere else on the island.
Lunch includes a full menu or an all-you-can-eat buffet Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., reasonably priced at $10.50. Dinner is elegant with a combination of soft piano music, linen tablecloths and napkins, candle-topped tables and attentive service. And the walls are decorated with Chickie's own artwork.
You can feel confident ordering any selection on the menu. The fish tastes like it was caught just minutes before it arrived at your table. But if you don't try some of the other dishes, you really lose out. An outstanding appetizer is a fish terrine with chef's choice of sauce. This is a delicate fish mousse, seafood and spinach, served with the chef's special sauce.
Chickie and her talented chef are proud of everything on the menu, particularly the Beef Wellington for one or for two. An extensive selection of superior wines rounds out your dining experience.
It takes more than a few visits to try everything on the menu. And starting very soon, for only $5, you can leave the traffic behind on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings and board the Frenchtown shuttle, leaving Red Hook on a regular schedule. Thanks to a number of participating Frenchtown restaurants, dining out just got easier.
