Chase Manhattan Bank is awarding contributions totaling $33,000 to 16 non-profit organizations in the territory under its 2000 Chase Community Grant Awards program, (formerly the Chase Neighborhood Grants Program.)
Chase spokeswoman Tynetta McIntosh said the bank looks for groups whose work has a far-reaching impact on the community, especially those who serve minorities and the underprivileged.
Most of the organizations tapped this year have been recipients in the past, she said. The 2000 grants range in amounts from $1,000 to $10,000, depending on the size and scope of the programs.
Sharing in the awards are: Seventh Day Adventist School, Small Business Development Center, New Image Foundation, Family Resource Center, V. I. Housing Authority, Reichhold Center for the Performing Arts, Nature Conservancy, Academics Enhanced, St. John Community Foundation, Safety Zone, the St. Croix Foundation for Community Development, Women's Business Center, St. Patrick's School, Women's Coalition of St. Croix, Stepping Stones, Inc., and The Village-Virgin Islands Partners in Recovery.
