May 8, 2001 – The V.I. National Park will again host a Youth Conservation Camp work-study program this summer, running from June 18 through Aug. 10.
The work-learn-earn program is open to young people ages 15 through 18 residing permanently in the United States. Participants will work 40 hours a week and will be involved in administrative, maintenance and resource management aspects of National Park Service operations. The positions pay $5.15 per hour.
There are openings for 11 participants. "However, all youths within that age bracket are urged to apply," a release states. From the qualified applicants, the park management will select the 11 by a lottery drawing.
Application forms are available at the National Park Services Office in the Visitor Center building in Cruz Bay. Completed forms must be turned in by May 18. To learn more, call Ina Duncan at 693-8989, ext. 21.
