Feb. 6, 2002 – Eileen R. Petersen, Casino Control Commission chair, will be a featured speaker at the sixth annual National Institute on Gaming Enforcement. The 2002 conference, presented by the American Bar Association's Criminal Justice Section and the Center for Continuing Legal Education, is Thursday and Friday in Las Vegas.
According to a commission press release, Petersen's participation will enable her to network with other gaming regulators and thereby help the commission keep up to date on changes in enforcement and regulation within the gaming industry.
Focusing on "cutting-edge issues confronting gaming regulators," the conference will include discussions on the increasingly national and global context in which gambling law and enforcement issues develop. Topics to be addressed include international initiatives in Internet gambling and their impact on the United States, reporting of suspicious activity in anti-terrorism times, and developments in state regulation.
Other speakers will include Kevin P. Mullaly, executive director of the Missouri Gaming Commission; Nelson Westrin, executive director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board; J.P. Suarez, director of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement; and Dale White, general counsel for the Mohegan Tribe.
