'HART'S WAR,' LESS WAR THAN OBVIOUS LESSONS

Feb. 26, 2002 — Set in a German prisoner of war camp toward the end of World War II, "Hart's War' tells the story of a privileged Yale law student turned military attaché, Tom Hart (Colin Farrell), who is forced to defend a black pilot Lincoln Scott, played by Terrence Howard, who is accused of murdering a white fellow POW.
Forcing Hart is Col. William McNamara (Bruce Willis), a true military man.
The story, according to the New York Times, tries too hard, for too many lessons, but is somewhat redeemed by some "big budget brutality" for those who like that in a war movie, and by the beautiful cinematography. The movie is based on a novel by John Katzenbach.
It's coming to Sunny Isle Thursday.
