March 18, 2002 For a fun day, head for the Coral Bay School's March Family Fun Fest on Saturday at the V.I. National Park Ballfield. The event runs from noon 'til 5 p.m.
Admission runs $1 for adults. Children and students are free, but children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
The school's co-administrator, Sabrina Boebert, said the staff and students planned the day as a way of reaching out to the community, to give children something to do and to raise money for scholarships.
"There's not a lot for children to do," she said.
The family-oriented afternoon includes food, games, a flea market, arts and crafts, and "basic fun games."
Boebert also expects the park to have one of its boats on hand for students to explore. Additionally, she expects the Fire Service to bring one of its trucks to the ballpark so children can learn about this agency.
She said that the school, now in its second year, now has 40 students in grades seven through 10. Boebert said next year, she expects 65 students. The school will expand to include grade 11.
If you'd like to sell arts and crafts at the March Family Fun Fest, call 775-6511 for information about space.
