March 22, 2002 Peacemakers Youth Soccer Club will be raising funds with a carwash at Wendy's parking lot on Mandela Circle from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Cars and SUVs will be washed for $8, and donations are welcomed.
The carwash is to raise funds to help defray costs of the team's trip to the Disney Spring Holiday Soccer Festival IV in Orlando, Fla., over the Easter holidays. This is the first time Peacemakers will attend this event.
They will participate in the Under 13 category, taking players from the Under 12 and Under 14 age groups along with three "guest" players: Jabari Velinor, who was an outstanding striker for the Peacemakers for several years until his family relocated to Houston, Texas, last summer, and Ali Van Gurp and Kai Schuster from St. Croix. A total of 18 players will travel, along with several parent chaperones and Coach Robert "Trip" Dunville.
Peacemakers Youth Soccer Club is the group formerly known as the St. Thomas Youth Soccer Association.
