LIBRARY FRIENDS START HOSPITAL BOOK CART

0

May 8, 2002 – The Friends of the St. Thomas Public Libraries group is implementing a new reading-related community service this week — a mobile book cart at Roy L. Schneider Hospital.
Friends volunteers are taking the cart through the hospital wards offering patients and staff free access to donated books and magazines along with the opportunity to purchase print newspapers and candy from the gift shop.
The volunteers are Margo Heikkila and Rita I. Coll. The cart was donated by John and Cecile deJongh and Sue Robinson. Anyone wishing to donate books for the project is asked to drop them off at the St. Thomas Reformed Church office or at the hospital cafeteria.
