July 19, 2002 The Election System office has announced two additional voter registration sessions on St. Thomas:
— Sunday, July 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Renaissance Grand Beach Resort.
— Thursday, July 25, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce "Business After Hours" at the Reichhold Center on the University of the Virgin Islands campus.
A release from the Chamber of Commerce quotes the following requirements for voter registration:
— You must be a citizen of the United States.
— You must be eighteen years of age or older.
— You must meet the residency requirements, which are:
—- You must be residing in the territory at least 90 days before the primary election.
—- You must be residing in the territory at least 90 days before the general election.
—- You must be residing in the election district at least 90 days.
In order to register, you must bring: birth certificate, United States passport, baptismal certificate (provided it has the place and date of birth), or naturalization certificate.
Registration is cancelled for moving residency out of the territory or for failure to vote in two general elections.
