CHRISTIANSTED TO BE PAINTED, REJUVENATED

0

Aug. 31, 2002 — Once again the Scrape, Paint, Rejuvenate (SPR) program is on its way for Christiansted.
The St. Croix Foundation, through funding by the St. Croix Anti-Litter and Beautification Commission, has given more than 30 buildings in downtown Christiansted well-needed facelifts.
"With over 30 applications still pending and the tremendous difference the first cycle of the program made in downtown Christiansted, we were anxious to receive the funding to continue the program," noted Stephanie Hodge, Foundation associate executive director. "We especially want to thank the St. Croix Anti-Litter and Beautification Commission for supporting this important initiative in reviving Christiansted."
The SPR program has helped to revitalize dilapidated buildings and cleaned up littered lots in downtown Christiansted. Currently SPR funding is available, and new applications are being accepted from property owners. In addition, applications previously submitted and not processed during the last run of the program will be reviewed for program qualification.
For more information in participating in the SPR program, property owners and painting contractors should contact Stennett Dariah at the St. Croix Foundation, 72 Flag Drive, Gallows Bay or telephone 773-9898.
