AMERICAN RED CROSS OFFERS SAFETY, SWIM CLASSES

Jan. 3, 2003 – The local American Red Cross headquarters on St. Thomas has organized a number of training classes for coaches, instructors and the public on St. Thomas. Swimming and boating are wonderful recreational sports, said a release from the local Red Cross, especially when safety is observed.
Sports Safety Training for Coaches: A two-part American Red Cross Sports Safety Training session with CPR certification will be offered on Thursday, Jan. 9, and Thursday, Jan. 16, at Ivanna Eudora Kean High School gymnasium from 4 to 8 p.m. The cost for the training is $60.
Learn to Swim Program for Ages 5 to 105: In line with the thinking that no one is ever too old to learn to swim, the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program for Ages 5 to 105 will be offered at Magens Bay on Saturdays from 8 to 10 a.m. beginning January 11. The cost is $50.

Water Safety Instructor Course: The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course begins Jan 7 and ends Feb 8. The course will be offered on Tuesdays at Ivanna Eudora Kean High School gymnasium from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and at Magens Bay on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $150.
Community Water Safety Course: The American Red Cross Community Water Safety Course will be offered at Magens Bay on Saturdays beginning January 11. The cost is $60.
