Jan. 6, 2002 – Pistarckle Theater is offering Saturday acting classes for young people and ballet/jazz and pre-ballet classes for children. The first sessions were held this past weekend, but it's not too late to sign up.
Scottie Brower, who has had leading roles in several Pistarckle productions, is teaching the acting course, which is open to youngsters ages 12 through 18. It meets from 2 to 5 p.m. and runs through March 15, except for skipping Jan. 25. The fee for the 10 sessions is $250.
Brower made his Pistarckle debut in 2001 in "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)," appeared in the company's year-ago production of "You Can't Take It With You" and just finished a run as one of the two actors playing multiple characters in "A Tuna Christmas." In show business since childhood, he studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and has appeared in Off-Broadway productions, in films including "For Love or Money" and in an underwater commercial for Club Med.
Princess Penn is teaching both dance courses, which run through April 12.
The ballet/jazz classes are for ages 5 to 9 years and meet from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. The fee for the 15 weeks is $195. In order to enroll in this class, a student must have taken pre-ballet or have permission from the instructor.
The pre-ballet classes are for ages 3 to 6 and are held from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. The fee for the 15 weeks is $195.
All classes meet at the theater facility in Tillett Gardens. For more information, call the Pistarckle office at 775-7877.
