Jan. 9, 2003 – The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board issued today has these announcements:
Classes Begin Today; Late Registration Continues Through January 10
Classes for UVI's 2003 spring semester began Jan. 9. Late registration for students continues through Friday, Jan. 10, on both campuses. Registration on the St. Thomas campus is being held in the Sports and Fitness Center. Registration on the St. Croix campus is being held in the Melvin Evans Center.
St. Thomas Campus:
Late Registration – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 Late Registration – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday Jan. 10, 2003 The schedule of courses offered on the St. Thomas campus is available online.
St. Croix Campus: Late Registration – noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 Late Registration – noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 The schedule of courses offered on the St. Croix campus is available online.

UVI's St. Croix Library Remains Closed to All Until January 13
Due to the installation of new carpeting over the recent holiday recess and the need to remove and re-shelve all library materials, the UVI library on the St. Croix campus will not reopen to anyone – students, faculty, staff, or the general public – until Monday, Jan. 13, 2003. The administration regrets any inconvenience this arrangement may cause.

Time Management to be Focus of SBDC Seminar on January 13
UVI's Small Business Development Center will offer a small business seminar entitled: "Time Management: An Introductory Program" from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2003.
Presenter Frederick Handleman will cover the basics of managing time and becoming more efficient and effective. Topics will include the essentials: making decisions, setting goals, and scheduling activities. Examples and hands-on applications will give participants an opportunity to start managing their time right in the classroom.
The seminar will take place at the center's Training Facility, Nisky Center, St. Thomas. Admission is $20. There is a $5 discount for those who preregister and pay for the session by 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10.
UVI students, faculty and staff are admitted free although preregistration is required. For details and to preregister contact the Small Business Development Center at 776-3206 or fax 775-3756.

Cooked Dishes Sought for Afternoon on the Green
UVI’s 2003 edition of Afternoon on the Green is scheduled for Sunday, March 9, on the golf course of the St. Thomas campus. Here is your chance to share your special dishes, as UVI's annual food, family and fun event, Afternoon on the Green will feature food from around the world.
This year's theme is "Inaugural Kallaloo." Live entertainment and children’s games are also planned.
Contributed dishes will be entered in the food competition, unless otherwise noted. Categories for judging include main dishes/ meats/ poultry, seafood, soups, side dishes, breads, native drinks, pastries/sweets and vegetables/ casseroles.
Volunteer food servers with health cards are needed. To contribute a cooked dish, volunteer as a food server or for more information call the UVI office of institutional advancement at 693-1040.
