Feb. 6, 2003 – "A Taste of Island Hospitality" is the February featured "Business After Hours". The regular St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce event will take place from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Fort Christian on Thursday, Feb. 13, and is the second annual fund-raiser for the Hospitality Focus Group.
A late afternoon of fun is planned, with offerings from a variety of island restaurants. Many island artists and artisans will be on hand as well with unique and affordable items - to help last-minute Valentine's Day shoppers!
There will be island music and entertainment, and a number of other surprises including a special appearance by the group's mascot "Tommy Starfish".
The Chamber two-dollar bar will be featured - and a nominal admission will be charged with all proceeds going to the Hospitality Focus Group to continue their work in hospitality training, island beautification and other endeavors intended to make the island more hospitable, for tourists and residents alike.
The $5 admission includes one raffle ticket along with one "taste" ticket. Additional raffle and taste tickets will be available for sale.
All are encouraged to come and enjoy the special ambiance of Fort Christian while networking, meeting new friends and supporting the very important work of the Hospitality Focus Group and the St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce.
Limited space remains for restaurants, artists and artisans interested in participating. For further details, call Phyllis Blackman Smith at the St. Thomas St. John Hotel and Tourism Association office, 774 6835.
