PARTY SET FOR LIBRARY'S YOUNG SUMMER READERS

0

Sept. 4, 2003 – Participants in the Elaine I. Sprauve Library summer reading program for young people are invited to a cake and ice cream party on Sept. 10 at the library. It begins at 3:30 p.m.
Librarian Carol McGuinness said that about 70 youngsters participated in the program. "They got to pick their own books and read them at home," she said, and they received small toys and games as rewards for their accomplishments.
McGuinness said the program was designed to get youths used to using the library — "to get them comfortable." Participants ranged in age from toddlers to teens, she said, with parents reading aloud to those too young to read for themselves.
The Friends of the Library and the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands sponsored the program. For more information about the party, call 693-7375.
