Nov. 6, 2003 – Charles Leopold Penn of the British Virgin Islands and St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, died Nov. 2 at the age of 97 at The Peebles Hospital, Tortola. He was better known as "The Bouncer, Cool Cool, Up To Now And Up De Road."
Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Valley Methodist Church, Virgin Gorda, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Valley Public Cemetery, Virgin Gorda.
He is survived by his lifelong companion, Dolorita Vanterpool; sons, Carl, Richard, Gafford, James, Charles Jr., Cecil, Franklyn and William Penn; stepsons, Joseph Vanderpool and Keith Peterson; daughters, Mavis Francis, Cadis Frett, Eleanor Parilla, Ileta David, Almida Stapleton, Caroline Blackwood, Blanca Creque, Ruebel Smith, Kittie Grant and Susan Penn; stepdaughter, Cecilia Williams; daughters-in-law, Emma, Erlyn, Sonia, Elaine and Louvina Penn; sons-in-law, Olva Francis, Burnett Frett, Luis Parilla, Sen. Roosevelt David, Clinton Creque and Pastor Keith Grant; sisters, Othelia and Violet Stevens; 70 grandchildren and many great- and great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
