Richard Baptiste, 48, a Bureau of Corrections employee and part-time Ranger American security guard, was fatally shot during a robbery as he picked up the night's movie receipts at Market Square East. Authorities said the assailant, and possibly at least one accomplice, got away in a red Honda sedan.

Police fatally shot Desmond Wade, who they said got behind the wheel of a patrol car and tried to run them down late on Jan. 17 at North Star Village, where the officers had gone in response to two 911 calls. Police said Wade had been throwing a flammable liquid around a residence; he had been charged in July 2002 with the attempted murder of a village resident by dousing her with gasoline and setting her afire.

Lloyd Abraham was found dead with several gunshot wounds to his body after police were called to a shooting incident in Estate Contant. The shootings took place around 7 p.m. Sunday in Lower Contant near the Blue Corner Bar, located across from the VITRAN bus depot, between Ulla Muller Elementary School and John Thomas Funeral Home. Police described the bar as a meeting place for drug dealings. There was no further information on Abraham's age or place of residence at the time of the killing.

Sirpo Carmona "Peluche" Cadiz, 28, of Frederiksted sustained multiple gunshot wounds after a suspect approached him near the intersection of Fisher Street by the Frederiksted Post Office and opened fire on him.He died at the scene of the shooting. Police believe they have a motive and have identified potential suspects in the shooting.

A woman whose naked body was found face down just off a Hull Bay driveway had been dead for three or four days and died of blunt force trauma to the head, according to an autopsy. Police identified the woman, 42, as Tomasina Amparo de Gonzalez, a national of the Dominican Republic.

Fernando Estinia Diaz, 26, was pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m., less than an hour, a police official said, after police officers confronted him a distance away from Emancipation Garden and opened fire on him after he failed to drop a knife he was wielding.

Conrad Brathwaite , succumbed to gunshot wounds received when two masked men forced their way into the Super Pool Bar in Smith Bay after closing time and accosted a group of patrons
Police said the patrons might have been gambling after hours at the bar.

Alimore Winters was shot several times in a shooting spree at Oswald Harris Court Housing Community that left two other men injured. Winters died at the scene.

A 17-month-old child whose name was not released by police died in the Roy L. Schneider Hospital emergency room; an autopsy conducted on March 13 showed the cause of death as blunt force trauma; police released the information on March 17 and said an investigation was under way.

Yasser Ismeel,25, co-owner, of the Liquor and More Store in Barren Spot, was shot and killed by two masked gunmen who were apparently attempting to rob him as he left his store. Ismeel was shot in the chest during the scuffle, according to Police Chief Novelle Francis Jr.

Ezekiel Henry, 29, whose last known residence was the Oswald Harris housing community, was shot to death on the roadside of the Donoe bypass near Mandahl. Police said he had gotten out of his car to buy some coconuts from a vendor and was shot by the driver of a gold Nissan Pathfinder.

St. Lucia-native Levi Innocent, 27, was gunned down as he walked through Estate Grove Place toward his home at Mutual Homes housing community. Innocent was shot several times in the head, back and buttocks. Police had no suspects, motive or witnesses at the time of the shooting.

Richard Eman Smith, 93, was shot and killed by a single gunshot wound to his chest as he sat watching television with his wife in their Estate Thomas home. Smith died at the scene. Police did not consider Smith to be the intended victim of the shooting and were looking for others who might have been shot at in the vicinity of Smith's home around the same time that Smith was shot. There were no immediate suspects identified.

After being called to a narrow winding road in the Anna's Retreat area near Cassi Hill, police found the dead, bullet-ridden body of a 27-year-old man. No suspects had been detained and a motive for the shooting had not been established. The victim's identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Gregory Albert Lewis of St. Thomas was shot in the abdomen in a downtown Charlotte Amalie guest house around 1:50 a.m., minutes after a robbery took place in the room next door. Police said they located what was believed to be the assailant's getaway car in Lindbergh Bay and that its owner, Sheldon Anselm, 22, was questioned.

Hector Luis Rivera, 34, was fatally shot and his companion, Rhoda Thomas, 24, was seriously wounded late at night in a car that officers responding to reports of multiple gunshots found near their residence in Estate Calquohoun.

Miguel Donastorg Sr., 57, of Nadir was shot three times in the head, reportedly while he was urinating a short distance away from family members in an area near Lindqvist Beach. Police on June 24 announced the arrest of Derrick Frederick of Anna's Retreat in connection with the case.

Throphilus Breedy, 21, was found shot to death on the roadside in Smith Bay near the Gift night club about 3 a.m. Later the same morning police arrested Richard Fahie, 23 in connection with the killing.

Rashawn Rasheed Richards, 19, and Orlando Bennett, 21, were fatally shot in a mid-day shootout in Hospital Ground near the basketball court. One victim died shortly after being taken to Roy L. Schneider Hospital; the other died in the hospital that night.

Alva "Baboo" Lockhart was shot by a police officer responding to reports of gunfire in a home on Raphune Hill. The officer fired two shots at Lockhart who was reportedly threatening the officer with a gun.

Nancy Parrilla-Cirilo of Mon Bijou died from multiple stab wounds. A knife blade was found broken off in her chest. Bruises on her body indicate she had been beaten before being stabbed to death. Her husband Sandro Cirilo was found dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound to his head – an apparent suicide.

Robert O'Connor III, 35, of St. Croix, was found dead on Spring Gut Road in Estate Mount Pleasant. He had been shot several times and mutilated. He was a suspect in a rape that had occurred on Dec. 9.

Stewart Sargent, 29, was found dead lying in a pool of blood on the floor of his Wintberg Heights apartment; police said he apparently suffered a puncture wound in the chest. A woman summoned police to the site, saying she was Sargent's boyfriend and that she had gone there after being unable to reach him by telephone. The last time police could determine that he had been seen alive was on Dec. 9.

Trinidad Guzman, 48, was found dead of multiple stab wounds at her Estate Whim residence. Police said it appeared that she had struggled with her assailant and a burglary may have been involved.
