Feb. 15, 2004 – Longtime St. Thomas resident Mitzi Henne died of cardiac arrest Saturday in Coconut Creek, Fla., where she and her husband, Harvey, moved several years ago. She was 82.
A painter, Henne was active in the St. Thomas-St. John Arts Council for many years. She served as executive director of the Council on Alcoholism St. Thomas-St. John in the 1980s.
Harvey Henne said on Sunday that his wife died peacefully surrounded by family and that obituary information would be forwarded to St. Thomas later this week.
Her body will be cremated and her ashes will be brought back to St. Thomas for a memorial service at a date to be announced, he said.
