Hospital Offers Amnesty for Penalty Charges

June 22, 2004 – The Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center is giving the opportunity to residents who fell behind on payments and became overwhelmed with penalty charges to climb out from under that debt.
The JFLH Amnesty Program 2004 will run from July 1 to Sept. 30.
According to a press release from the hospital, the purpose of the amnesty program is to offer an incentive for people to resolve debts to the hospital. The program will include a waiver of accumulated monthly penalty charges for unpaid bills. Bad check fees will not be waived.
The following discounts and conditions apply:
• Discounts available include: (25 to 50 percent) off original balance as of June 30.
• Discounts are available for all government employees.
• Discounts are available for all inpatient and outpatient charges. Discounts are available for all self-pay accounts and accounts after primary insurance payments outstanding over 90 days,
• Accounts partially paid before Sept. 30 that remain unpaid without approved payment schedule will revert back to the original amount of the debt.
• Payment schedule options can be made available; installments are not to go beyond Oct. 31.
• Credit records with collection agencies will be cleared when account is paid in full. An additional 2 percent discount will be given if accounts are fully paid on or before Sept. 30.
• Discounts are also available for accounts currently being administered by Collection Agencies.
Payments can be made by mail, in person and also by a drop box located at the security desk in the hospital's lobby. Forms of payments accepted are cash, money order, certified check, cashier's check or credit card.
