July 13, 2004 – St. Croix Police Tuesday arrested two suspects in a shooting incident that occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday morning in front of Moonrakers Lounge on Queen Cross Street in Christiansted. It also, apparently, occurred in front of a security camera.
Deputy Chief Herminio Velazquez said that warrants were executed on Rahede Teague, 23, of Basic Triangle, and Darnel Harve, 18, of Constitutional Hill.
Velazquez said Teague was the suspected shooter and is charged with assault in the first degree and the unauthorized use of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Harve was charged with third-degree assault.
Velazquez said that the victim was taken to Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he under went surgery for a gun shoot wound in the lower abdomen.
The investigation is ongoing, according to Velazquez. He added that the police work has been aided so far by the fact that the whole event was caught on tape by a security camera. He said the altercation, the shooting, and the aftermath are all on tape.
