July 22, 2004 – The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board issued today has these announcements:

UVI SBDC to host Small Business Administrator
The UVI Small Business Development Center will play host to one of the U.S.
Small Business Administration's highest-ranking officials on Sunday, July 25, and Monday, July 26. Hector V. Barreto, the 21st administrator of the SBA, will visit the territory with a traveling delegation of SBA executives. In his first official visit to the territory since he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2001, Barreto will be the keynote speaker at a Bankers' Roundtable scheduled for 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 26, at the SBDC's training facility in Nisky Center on St. Thomas.
As the SBA administrator, Barreto oversees the delivery of financial and business development tools to America's entrepreneurs. With a portfolio of direct and guaranteed business loans and disaster loans worth more then $45 billion, the SBA is the largest single financial backer and facilitator of technical assistance and contraction opportunities for the nation's small businesses.
The UVI SBDC is hosting the delegation's visit in collaboration with corporate sponsors First Bank Virgin Islands and the St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce.
