New York and St Croix Artists Unit in Christiansted

July 28, 2004- Red Clay Arts will curate a special exhibition of vanguard visual art, video and animation. The exhibit in Christiansted will feature the work of artists and filmmakers from St. Croix and Brooklyn, NY.
The sponsor on St. Croix is Correa Studios.
According to a press release, Red Clay Arts provides platforms for emerging vanguard, new media and experimental artistic expression and presenting it to the local community. Correa Studios is a printmaking studio, own and operated by Brasilian native Jimena Correa.
The exhibit is Aug. 7 through August 27. The opening reception is Aug. 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Correa Studios, 5 Company Street # 205 (above the courtyard behind ReMax) Christiansted.
The St. Croix artists being featured are: Jimena Correa, Therese Trudeau, Luca Gasperi, Pedra Schaffers, LaVaughn Belle, Jymmy Dunn, and Gerville Rene Larsen.
Correa said the artists from St. Croix are a mixture of those island-born and those who have relocated to St. Croix.
The New York artists are: Pierre Bennu, Scott E. Smith, Mario Moorhead and Sayeeda Carter.
Food at the reception is by Stir It up Catering. This event is free, but there is a suggested donation to help benefit Correa Studios Gallery. (See Correa Gallery).
