Islanders Have Lost Access to Another Beach

0

Another closed beach. We can only be thankful that the Virgin Islands Legislature had the vision to over ride the Governor's veto to purchase Vessup Beach. Not every one can be rich enough or fortunate enough to own a beach. However, it should be the right of every person to enjoy using a beach. Senator Berry had a unique idea of making every remaining undeveloped beach a public green space for a certain setback. While lacking details, I think this proposal merits exploration. Otherwise, we can expect to see a continuing litany of fenced off beaches and angry Virgin Islanders.
