Aug. 23, 2004 – The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board issued today has these announcements:

UVI Fall Semester Add/Drop Period Continues Through Aug. 25
UVI's period for adding or dropping 2004 fall semester classes runs from Aug. 23 through 25. For information on St. Thomas call 693-1150. For information on St. Croix call 692-4158.
Elections, SGA Ceremonies Set on St. Thomas Campus
Elections for freshman and sophomore Student Government Association senators will be held on UVI's St. Thomas campus on Tuesday, Aug. 24. Swearing-in ceremonies of SGA officers for 2004-2005 will take place at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26, in Teacher Education Room 101. For more information call the student activities office at 693-1111.
Miss UVI Application Deadline is Monday, Aug. 30
UVI's Student Government Association is recruiting female students interested in participating in the Miss UVI 2004-2005 competition. Miss UVI serves as a student ambassador for the university and receives several valuable prizes, including a scholarship covering tuition, and room and board for two semesters. The deadline to apply is Aug. 30. For more information, call the student activities offices at 693-1111 on St. Thomas or 692-4188 on St. Croix.
Comedy Jam Scheduled Aug. 27 on St. Croix Campus
The UVI Student Government Association and student activities office on the St. Croix campus will sponsor a comedy jam at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27. The jam will feature comedians Marcus Wiley, Vyck Cooley, Rod Z and Darian Perkins. Tickets are $10 in advance from the UVI Bookstore and $15 at the door. The show will be performed in the Student Center on the St. Croix campus. A poster for the event can be viewed from the "Latest Links" section of the UVI Web site (click on link below). STARfest Featured Each Monday on WTJX-TV
The Virgin Islands' best singers and dancers are featured each Monday in STARfest on WTJX Public Television. The program includes highlights from past STARfests and airs at 8 p.m. It is offered in collaboration with UVI's Reichhold Center for the Arts.

A collection of works by native V.I. photographer Dale Hendricks is on display at UVI's Reichhold Center for the Arts through September. The collection is titled "The Best of Dale Hendricks" and includes primarily black-and-white images dating back to the 1960s. Hendricks studied at HY Zauzula Studio, Parsons School of Design and the School of Visual Arts in New York City. The Reichhold gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and during performances. For more information call 693-1563.
Reichhold Seeking Sales Persons for Program Booklet
UVI's Reichhold Center for the Arts is seeking sales persons to join the Center's team selling advertising space in the program booklet distributed at Reichhold events throughout the season. Interested persons should call Reichhold Business Manager Pam Sanes at 693-1554 or send e-mail.
UVI-CELL Offers CPA Exam Preparation Course on St. Thomas
UVI's Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning Center will offer a Certified Public Accountant review course on St. Thomas beginning Aug. 31. This course is designed for individuals preparing to take the Certified Public Accountant Exam. It provides a comprehensive review and practical skills to prepare for the exam. The course will cover areas such as auditing and attestation, financial accounting and reporting, regulation, and business environment and concepts. Classes will be held from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays from Aug. 31 through Nov. 6. The fee of $1,195 includes four textbooks and software.
