Oct. 29, 2004 Police officials have ruled the death of 26-year-old Lamecha Schulterbrandt as an accidental drowning based on autopsy results released Thursday.
"The results showed no signs of foul play," Sgt. Thomas Hannah, V.I. Police spokesman, said Friday afternoon.
Schulterbrandt's fully clothed body was found floating face down in a pond at the University of the Virgin Islands' golf course Monday morning. (See "Body of 26-year-old Woman Found on UVI Golf Course").
Hannah said the medical examiner did not indicate the presence of drugs or alcohol in the woman's system.
Schulterbrandt was not a student of UVI, and police have not determined why she was at the school campus.
Schulterbrandt was the niece of attorney Frank Schulterbrandt, executive director of the Economic Development Commission, and the grandniece of former Gov. Roy L. Schneider.
