Nov. 11, 2004 – The University of the Virgin Islands Theatre Area will present Agatha Christie's famous mystery "The Mousetrap," Nov. 19-22, at 8 p.m. in the UVI Little Theatre.
The Mousetrap is the world's longest-running play, having played for 50 years in London. Agatha Cristie originally wrote the play as a radio production, calling it "Three Blind Mice." It was a present from the BBC to Queen Mary. In 1952 it opened in London as a stage play entitled "The Mousetrap" and has played over 20,000 performances.
The play is set in an English manor house renovated into a bed and breakfast, where eight people are stranded in a blizzard. After one of them is murdered, paranoia and suspicion mount as the killer is expected to strike again.
The ensemble cast includes Shayla Solomon, Jeffrey Purcell, Spike Davis-Mckean, Mikyla Frederick, Lee Vanterpool, Crystal Miles, Michael Kuich and Sheldon Turnbull.
The production is directed by Dr. Rosary E. Harper.
The Little Theatre is located on the second floor of the CA Building on the St. Thomas campus.
General Admission is $12, and student tickets are $6 each. Ticket outlets are located at Dockside Bookstore, Niskey Pharmacy, UVI Bookstore and the UVI Humanities Division Office.
