Nov. 19, 2004 – On November 26, 2004, Mongoose Junction Merchant’s Association will be hosting its annual "Afternoon and Evening in the Courtyard", and will again this year include an art show sponsored by the Artists’ Association of St. John to benefit Friends of Virgin Islands National Park.

Many local artists draw inspiration from the natural beauty of Virgin Islands National Park, and they have teamed up with the Mongoose merchants to sponsor "Art for the Park", as a way to give back to the Park. Artists’ work will be exhibited in stores at Mongoose Junction throughout the evening. There will be a wide variety of fine art including, jewelry, metal sculptures, mixed media, photography, clay works, painting, and wood turning.

At least half of the proceeds of each work that is purchased will go directly to fund important cultural activities in the Park, such as the archeology program, Carabana Cultural Theater, Folklife Festival, and the cultural demonstration program at Annaberg Plantation ruins.

Some of the artists showing will be:
Gail Van de Bogurt at Caravan Gallery; Pat Whitehead, Deborah St. Clair and Kimberly Boulon at Bajo el Sol; Liz Ford, Claire Wilkinson, Mary Moroney and Jen Robbinson at Town & Country Realty; Larry Lipsky at Kharma; Lisa Duncan, Amanda Thody MacDonald, and Pam King at Best of Both Worlds; Ron Keele at St. John Glassworks; and Irene Patton, Susan Helmich, and Lynn Berry at R&I Patton Goldsmithing; Eileen Duffy, Bill Stoehr, and other artists will also being showing at various locations around Mongoose Junction.

Artists will be on hand to greet guests and answer questions about their work. The art show runs from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Please join us for this elegant "Evening in Courtyard" and "Art for the Park". Admission to the event is free.
