Police Issue Warrant for Suspect in Shooting

Dec 29, 2004 – An arrest warrant has been issued for Khail Alphonso Thompson in connection with the shooting incident outside a Frederiksted night club on Dec. 18 in which two people were injured.St. Croix Has Two Shootings, One Death
Elton Lewis, police commissioner, made the announcement at a press conference Wednesday afternoon. The press conference concerned security arrangements for the Christmas Festival.
The warrant charges Thompson with first and third degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, unlawful sexual contact and assault and battery.
Lewis said, "He will eventually be apprehended."
Lewis added that the night club, the Culture Lounge, outside of which the shooting took place, was not licensed.
Fire Marshal Alexandro Rivera, who was also at the press conference, said the infraction had been verified and the matter turned over to the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs.
Another shooting which took place in Estate Mount Pleasant the same day and which resulted in the death of Dixon Lewis, 28, is still under investigation, according to the commissioner.
He did say that there were leads and the department hoped to resolve that matter too.
