News Brief: St. Thomas Roadwork Begins Monday

Jan. 5, 2005 – Beginning Monday, St. Thomas residents should expect to see work crews resurfacing various roads around the island.
The roads will undergo resurfacing, drainage installation, culvert installation, guardrail installation and reconditioning, Public Works Commissioner Wayne Callwood announced in a release Wednesday.
Callwood said a Notice to Proceed was granted to Island Roads Corp. Dec. 13 and construction should be completed within seven months.
The roads slated for improvements are:
– Route 30 – 1,000 feet along Bovoni Road/Clinton E. Phipps Racetrack Road, and Estate Fortuna to Blue Water Bible College.
– Route 42 from Estate Tabor & Harmony to Route 38, Cassi Hill.
– Route 308 from Gasvaerks Gade to General Gade, from the Vitran Bus Terminal to Cartech Imports intersection and from Garden Street to De Beltjen Road.
– Route 334 from the intersection at Route 33 to the intersection at Route 40 (one-way road to Fairchild's Park).
– Route 336 Emerald Hill.
