Palm Bonnets' Swan Song at Tillett

Jan. 4, 2005 – The Caribbean Palm Bonnets, in conjunction with the Roy L. Schneider Hospital, will host a cinematic evening at Tillett Gardens Friday, Jan. 14, to raise money for the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute.
The Caribbean Palm Bonnets, best known for their flesh-filled 2005 Calendar, are the local chapter of the Red Hat Society. They are a group of over-50 Virgin Islands women who made this year's calendar to raise funds for the cancer institute. The "palm" in the name comes from their regulation red hats being made locally from palm fronds.
According to Jane Clemo, founding queen mother of the Palm Bonnets, the event at Tillett Gardens will be the group's final public appearance to promote the 2005 calendars. The evening, sponsored by Bellows, begins at 6 p.m. with a wine reception, followed by a showing of "Calendar Girls," the film that inspired the local effort.
The cost of the event is $25 and all proceeds go toward the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute.
