Chamber, Human Resources Association Host Business Luncheon

March 11, 2005 – The business and professional community is invited to a luncheon event March 23 at the Cormorant Beach Hotel.

Risk Management — The value of strategic HR Management in today’s changing work environment.—will be presented by Javier Lozano, regional director, Society for Human Resources Management and formerly of ChevronTexaco, Calif.
Civil Justice Reform/Tort Reform — A necessary component of improving the business climate in the Virgin Islands — will be presented by attorney Britain H. Bryant, former V.I. Senator.
Lozano is the Regional Director, International Programs, for the Society for Human Resource Management Prior to joining SHRM, Mr. Lozano completed a 25-year career with ChevronTexaco before electing early retirement in 2003. Javier ended his career with ChevronTexaco as the Corporate Diversity Consultant in the Office of Global Diversity of ChevronTexaco. This role included providing consulting support for achieving the Diversity Vision and Strategic Objectives of ChevronTexaco world-wide.
Bryantwill speak on the Need for Civil Justice Legislation in the Virgin Islands. The Virgin Islands is considered a high risk community because of the frequency of lawsuits and outrageous jury awards. Bryant will discuss various options for improvement and reform of the civil justice system.
Anna Maria Hector is the President of Chamber of Commerce, the leading business advocacy organization in the Virgin Islands; and Carmelo Rivera is the President of the Human Resources Association of St. Croix, an affiliate of SHRM, which is committed to advancing the human resource profession.
