'Fireworks' – A Group Exhibit of Works in Clay at Gallery St. Thomas

March 11, 2005 – Gallery St. Thomas on Government Hill features "Fireworks", an exhibit and sale of works in clay by 13 local ceramic artists. The show opens at 5 p.m. Friday evening with a meet-the-artists reception running until 8 p.m.
The concept for "Fireworks" was created by gallery ceramic artist Lynn Paccassi-Berry. A third- generation ceramic artist, Paccassi-Berry was interested in creating the first ever all clay show for the Virgin Islands that would feature internationally-known as well as emerging artists. "We are all so excited to show our work to the community, particularly to highlight more artistic creations that can come from clay." The exhibit will include sculpture, figures, teapots, and wall panel artwork in an exhibit of more than 20 pieces. "Gallery St. Thomas is pleased to present this first-ever show of all clay work and we look forward to making this an annual event," Claire Ochoa, gallery owner, says. "I appreciate that well-known artists are showing their works next to emerging artists, it provides a great environment for the group to share a dialogue about how they create and exhibit their work."
Participating artists from St. Thomas are Alison Davis, Edney Freeman, Ketchi Salaz, Lynn Paccassi-Berry, Ruth Prager, Devin Toolan, and Kimberly Young. Featured artists from St. John include Annie Caswell, Anna Foote, Jill Hale, Merryn McDonald, Mandy Thody, and Gail Van de Bogurt.
"Fireworks" opens at Gallery St. Thomas on Government Hill and Garden Street on March 18, 2005 from 5-8 pm with a meet-the-artists reception. The exhibit will remain on view through March 31st and is open to the public. For more information contact the gallery at 340.777.6363 or www.GalleryStThomas.com
